Transport Capital, an\u00a0investment\u00a0management\u00a0and financial advisory firm focused on\u00a0Maritime and Aviation, today announced the appointment of Vijay Kamath as the new Head of Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Middle East for the Maritime franchise, based in Singapore.<\/p>\n

A seasoned senior executive with more than 28 years of experience over which he has built a vast network of shipping industry stakeholders, Vijay will help to grow the company\u2019s activities across these three key regions. This appointment further strengthens Transport Capital\u2019s global coverage team.<\/p>\n

On this new appointment, Philip Clausius, Founder and Managing Partner at Transport Capital, said: \u201cAbout a year ago, we embarked on an expansion strategy by starting to add key hires in important markets. Vijay joining us is another important step in that direction and I am very pleased to work with him once more after the joint experience we have gained at our previous company, FSL. This is a people business, and we will continue to grow our team opportunistically; if and when we feel that professionals can provide complementary skills, experience or reach.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking more on his new role, Vijay commented: \u201cI look forward to join Transport Capital and work alongside a team which has impressive operational and financial expertise across the globe. Since I know many of the team at Transport Capital very well for many years, it was an easy decision for me once the opportunity arose.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vijay has great experience in shipping companies, where he spent 12 years as joint General Manager at Essar Shipping and two years as Chief Financial Officer of BW LPG. He was also a Chief Commercial Officer at FSL Asset Management for five years where he gained significant leasing and structured finance experience. Beyond that, he was a Senior Relationship Manager at the National Bank of Fujairah and had also gained finance boutique experience when he served as Managing Director at Cleaves Asia. Additionally, he has spent considerable time advising the owners and senior management teams of shipping, offshore and mining companies.<\/p>\n

Vijay graduated from Goa University with a Master of Management Studies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
